Don’t optimize ineffective processes

| 125 words | by Fernando Nóbel

Today I made some changes to the Gestalt Garden website. I really enjoy this kind of task, but I need to resist the temptation to look for the most efficient option. The problem is that this temptation invites me to stop worrying about whether what I want to do is actually effective in the first place.

This situation is like digging holes in my garden just to fill them back in. My temptation is to optimize the process—to dig and fill more holes in less time and using fewer resources—thinking that this will generate more value. But what value is there in digging holes only to fill them again?

There is no greater waste than improving the efficiency of a process that makes no sense.
