The tendency to want to solve problems with new tools

I’m finishing the next post for the Gestalt’s Garden.

The central topic of this post is: “why it is necessary to separate task management from project management”. In the conclusion, I wanted to use an idea that a good friend once explained to me. However, it was in casual conversation and I couldn’t take notes. So I asked him again :^)

In general—especially in companies in the industry and engineering sector—we tend (perhaps due to our technophilia) to think that with a tool we will solve a social problem.

Now let’s change the context to task management:

In general—especially in the field of personal productivity—we tend (perhaps due to our technophilia) to think that with a tool we will solve a workflow problem.
